The 23rd edition of the iconic exhibition will emphasise on innovation, technological advancements and provide an unprecedented array of business matchmaking facilities…

KUALA LUMPUR [May 25]: The 23rd edition of Malaysia’s largest and most renowned exhibition for the metalworking and machine tools industry, METALTECH 2017, has officially kicked off its four-day extravaganza of cutting-edge exhibitions, innovative seminars and forums, business meetings and much more at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

Officiating at  the launch ceremony was Deputy Trade Minister of the Malaysian Ministry of Trade and Industry (MITI) YB Datuk Chua Tee Yong, together with the Chairman of Trade Link ITE, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Haji Ahmad, and ITE Group PLC Regional Director of Asia, Gordon Payne.

Running from the 24th to the 27th of May, Metaltech 2017 has continued its trend of growing bigger and better each year, this year featuring close to 2000 exhibiting companies from 38 countries across 25,000sqm of gross exhibition space, and expecting a record turnout of 30,000 regional and international visitors.

Along with an enhanced version of the highly successful Business Matching service that was premiered last year, organisers Trade Link ITE have further incorporated a number of new initiatives to benefit their exhibitors, buyers and visitors.

“Having received highly positive feedback last year, it’s safe to say that bringing together buyers and sellers in our Business Matching programme is quickly becoming a crucial element of METALTECH. To further enhance this proposition, we are introducing a VIP Buyers Club in 2017, which features the region’s leading professionals who directly influence the purchasing of products and services within the Machine Tools, Metalworking & Manufacturing industries in Malaysia and Southeast Asia,” said Dato’ Zainal. “It is our sincere hope to offer as many mutually beneficial meeting opportunities as possible for all participants of METALTECH 2017.”

With ASEAN markets beginning to spearhead international standards in innovative manufacturing, this year’s METALTECH themes are set to revolve around the modern trends of Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things (IoT) and the implementation of SMART Factories in an expanded series of seminars and business talks.

“All the evidence is pointing towards Asia as the new powerhouse of innovation”, said Gordon Payne. “Economic growth rates are eclipsing the Western hemisphere and, with the formation of the AEC to further enhance competitiveness, we expect that there is a lot more to come from this region of the world. In line with this, METALTECH 2017 is right on cue in delivering it’s most comprehensive and pioneering series of seminars to date, providing the movers and shakers of the industry with an exclusive glimpse into the future of manufacturing across a broad spectrum of industries and sectors.”

With attendees expected from the aerospace, automation, marine/offshore, metalworking, energy, electrical, electronics and medical industries, Tradelink ITE continues to cement their tradition of industrial diversity through the organization of their now renowned sister exhibition AUTOMEX, which focuses on the latest developments in automation technologies, a field of growing relevance across the manufacturing spectrum.

In a proactive move to ease traffic congestion during the event, METALTECH 2017 organisers have also struck a deal with transport app GRAB to offer discounts for attendees travelling to and from PWTC. Users may enter the promo code ‘GRABMETAL’ to receive two trip discounts of RM8 during exhibition days.

METALTECH 2017 is once again proud to acknowledge the support of various government agencies, including the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) as well as the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOSTI).
