Fresh from the successful conclusion of METALTECH 2016, new developments are in the pipeline, Managing Director says.

METALTECH 2016, the 22nd edition of Malaysia’s leading metalworking exhibition, drew to a close last Saturday with organisers Trade Link ITE promising greater investment and involvement in regional high-technology manufacturing in the future.

The exhibition, which was held from the 25th-28th of May at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), attracted over 500 exhibitors from 34 countries, with 19253 visitors gaining access to some of the world’s most cutting-edge manufacturing technology.

A total of RM400 million in spot sales was recorded over the 4 days with coming weeks and months, and Trade Link ITE Managing Director Mr. Edwin Lai is optimistic about the direction that the exhibition is taking.

“As Southeast Asia embraces a knowledge-based economy, we are committed to becoming the meeting place for buyers and sellers of high-technology solutions across the region. To attract the range of visitors that we have and secure these large deals shows that we are making progress towards this goal”, said Mr. Lai.

A highly international crowd were attracted to METALTECH 2016, with exhibitors from Turkey, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, India, South Korea, Singapore and China mixing with Southeast Asia’s best, while the show also saw a 10% increase in the number of international visitors present.

Both exhibitors and visitors took advantage of a new Business Matching Programme designed to help them build relevant business connections, while industrial talks and seminars also connected attendees in similar fields and industries, enhancing opportunities for networking and business synergy.

Moving forward, Trade Link ITE will continue to widen their reach in Southeast Asia by creating targeted, sector-specific trade events, a development which excites Mr. Edwin Lai.

“In the developing ASEAN market, strategic partnerships are key to continued growth. Thanks to the expertise of the ITE Group, who are one of the world’s leading exhibition organizers, we have set our sights on building a network of events that will provide a gateway for Malaysian companies to build the connections enabling them to access fast-evolving part of the world”, explained Mr. Lai.
